Monroe Christian School offers many opportunities for field trips throughout the school year. A huge variety of field trips take place including school wide, classroom, on-site, off-site and even some that are parent led during breaks!
Take a look at just a few of the field trips your child will be involved in this year!
4th graders get to hike the Iron Goat Trail
3rd and 4th graders visit the Brightwater Treatment Plant to learn how wastewater can be recycled into reusable water, energy, and nutrients for plants and soil. Their tour will encourage our students to think about responsible water use, the products they use and how everyday choices can help protect Puget Sound.
During the week of conferences, a parent put together a field trip to Remlinger Farms! Look at how much fun the kids had!
Kindergartners get to visit the pumpkin patch in October!
Pioneer Farms comes to our school on November 21!
This program will expose our students to the rich cultures of both Pioneers and Native Americans of the Ohop Valley 100 years ago. Their unique “Hands On” approach to history, uses dozens of activities, to create a field trip at Monroe Christian School!
Learning areas are as follows:
Food: Preparation of Native American & Early Pioneer foods
Toys: Learning tools and vintage toys
Clothing: Dress up Pioneer style clothing
Barn: Blacksmith tools, woodworking (sawbuck & buck-saw, etc.)
Hunting & Fishing: Canoe shaping & arrowhead making
Crafts: String a bracelet from beans, card & spin a piece of wool
Daily Living: Grooming items & tools for daily living (old wringer washer)
The artifacts, replicas, learning centers and staff, provide each child with the chance to experience history with their own five senses.
We will even be making our own cider to be served at the MCS Thanksgiving Feast the following day!
The Pacific Science Center Science on Wheels
In the spring, the Pacific Science Center brings their traveling science exhibits right to Monroe Christian School! Our students are given the opportunity to explore 6 different space exhibits and visit the portable planetarium to learn all about space!
